Bangalore, the Garden City of India known internationally for its
parks and gardens, its temperate climate and the I.T. industry is the
home of the Bangalore City Institute. The development of Bangalore from
being known, as a place for the retired to be called the Silicon Valley
of India is well chronicled to be mentioned here.
This
has coincided with the growth in the club’s membership over the past
decades. From the twelve or so founding members who were advocates in
the beginning of the last century the club now has a membership of over
2200 men and women from all walks of life. Apart from the solitary
bungalow, which served as a clubhouse from 1902 onwards for six decades,
the club has added the Diamond Jubilee building, the Platinum Jubilee
building, the Centenary building, a swimming pool and an amphitheater
till now.
The
club conducts musical concerts, plays, dramas and other cultural events
as well as sporting events.
